09 May Enjoy Same-day Results with Zoom! Teeth Whitening
Whether you have a big event in your future or you just want to enhance your appearance to boost your self-confidence, you don’t require months of treatment or deep pockets to realize your wishes. Teeth whitening is one of the most effective, yet economical, ways to achieve the smile makeover you desire.
A consultation with your cosmetic dentist will answer many of the questions you may have about teeth whitening … what works best; how much improvement you can realistically anticipate; are you a good candidate; how long will it last; and are there any side effects.
The patient wishing for same day results can achieve safe, long-lasting results with Zoom! in-office teeth whitening. The process works like this …
The patient has their teeth cleaned by their hygienist to remove plaque and extrinsic stain. A dental examination will reveal if there are issues like cracked teeth, dental caries, gum recession, or self-identified sensitivity. If so, using a tooth paste or gel geared toward sensitivity is recommended for a week or two.
Teeth whitening is always recommended prior to having any restorative work done so bonding, crowns, or tooth colored repairs will be matched to your newly whitened tooth color for a natural blended appearance.
On whitening day, the patient is seated; the dental provider (who has been specifically trained to render this treatment) will barricade the soft tissues leaving only the teeth to be whitened exposed; the whitening gel is applied; a laser light is aimed at teeth to expedite the process; and in a short period of time, you are finished.
For many, one session is sufficient. But for deeper stain a second application might be recommended. It is administered during the same appointment. Once completed, the patient will enjoy a brighter smile (up to eight shades) just from this one visit. And Zoom! can continue to whiten teeth for up to two weeks following your dental appointment.
Now that you have achieved a new, bright smile you will want to protect it. Be aware of the things that result in dental stain like coffee, tea, cola, red wine; and foods like tomato based sauces, berries, and those that contain bright food dyes. If consumed on the run, consider chewing sugar free gum or rinsing with water. Touch-ups are available if needed.
